This leads me to think that something has happened iether to the serial port on the computer or to the interface cable. HRD returns the same results on either radio irregardless of settings- basically its unable to read the frequency on either radio (neither are in memory mode, both on VFO). Thinking there was a problem with either the cable or the Pro II I tried using the 746 with the same results- nothing. On contacting the previous owner he said he experienced no problems making the Pro 3 talk to HRD using this interface. Additionally I have changed the baud rate both on the radio end and the computer serial port settings (computer is running XP Pro) to no avail. I have tried the setting suggestions in the HRD setup wizard to no avail. To answer the obvious things first yes the serial port is enabled in the BIOS. However not all of my manipulation can make the radio and computer talk to each other. I have downloaded and installed Ham Radio Deluxe. The Pro III came with a cable to go from the CI-V port to a serial port for interface. The 746 and 756 Pro III are CI-V capable and in the shack I have several computers with serial ports. The Pro III joins a 746, IC 207 and a 706 Mk 2G in my shack. Last week I bought a new (to me) IC 756 Pro III.
